About Worship

Here at Scobey Assembly of God you might have some questions about our style of worship, which are based on the pattern of the Word of God.

Why do we Lift our hands?

“I will praise you as long as I live, and in your Name, I will lift my hands.” Psalm 63:4

“I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.” 1 Timothy 2:8

Why do anoint with Oil?

Is anyone among you sick? let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him. Anointing hm with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven.” James 5:14-15

We are grateful for medical science and what they do for mankind. Prayer and medicine are both important in ministering to the sick.

What about speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues?

This expression of the gifts of the Holy Spirit given for spiritual uplifting.(1 Corinthians 12:8-14) at times, there will only be speaking forth in your known language. This Bible calls this prophecy and such inspired utterances are also meant for edification according to (1 Corinthians 14:13), “but everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.”

 What Tithes and Offerings?

We believe the Bible instructs us that everything we have belong to God. As a statement of worship and recognition of God’s ownership, we bring 10 percent of our income as a tithe. Above the tithe, we bring offerings.

bring the whole tithe in to the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me on this, says the Lord

Almighty, and see if I will not throw

open the floodgates of Heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have Enough room for it”

Malachi 3:10

These are some of the frequently used expressions or our worship. We welcome you to joyfully worship or Lord with us
